Western Carolina University – The Reporter

reporter-16-10-12One of my duties as a Web Content Editor / Communications Specialist at Western Carolina University was to create the faculty/staff newsletter delivered weekly by email during the academic year, and formerly archived on its website, thereporter.wcu.edu (now incorporated into the news site at news-prod.wcu.edu/the-reporter/).

This involved queueing up the articles received from the news editor to appear in the order desired on the site’s home page, adding photographs and live links to salient points of interest mentioned in the articles, adding tags for readers’ convenience and emailing a digest of each edition to a faculty/staff list. The email was then saved as a PDF, which became one of the viewing options on the Archives page.

I wrote a number of articles for The Reporter, many of which were also news releases distributed by the university.

I also wrote or rewrote the majority of un-bylined brief “Achievements” for the site  after 2014.

(Sadly, the links above do not appear to be operative and the news archive is no longer available as of late 2021.)
